Research into the integration of people seeking asylum and refugees in Scotland

July 2010

We are conducting a study about the integration of refugees and people seeking asylum in Scotland.

The research will look at what works and what doesn’t in terms of allowing asylum seekers and refugees to become full members of Scottish society.

It will examine integration as a series of developments including health, housing, employment and education. It will also look at integration as a two-way process between the refugee community and the host community.

The project started this summer, and will last for around 30 months. We will use questionnaires and interviews with as many refugees and people seeking asylum as possible.

We hope to gather both one-off responses as well as tracking some individuals through the process of integration.

We are looking for help from partner organisations to distribute the questionnaires. If you can help, or for more information, please email our research officer on gareth.mulvey@scottishrefugeecouncil.org.uk or phone 0141 223 7994.
