Ian is a passionate advocate on behalf of others. For 30 years he was a full-time Trade Union Official; negotiating collective agreements, and representing individual members on grievance and disciplines in the workplace and at tribunals; liaising with politicians, government ministers and civil servants regarding employment legislation and industry regulations; and promoting and establishing equal opportunities, anti-discrimination, and anti-racial policies and procedures in the workplace.
Ian previously volunteered at the Citizens Advice Bureau for two years, advising and assisting clients on a wide spectrum of issues, and he is currently chairing the Childrens Panel within the Childrens Hearing System, Glasgow for 16 years.
Ian’s parents were German Jewish refugees who fled Nazi Germany in 1939, and he is passionate about the rights and issues of refugees.
