We are currently recruiting a Participation Office to provide maternity cover for nine months. This is a full time (36 hours per week) role to support the delivery of a new project under the European Union’s Asylum, Migration & Integration Fund (AMIF).
The overall goal of the project is to ensure Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) across Scotland are effectively integrated into Scottish Society and are able to achieve their goals and have their needs met. As such you will be working closely with our partner organisation (Aberlour) as well as refugee-led organisations, other 3rd Sector and Private Sector organisations, to deliver UASC integration activities (e.g. youth conferences, inclusive democratic activities, volunteering opportunities etc.).
We are looking for a person with either a qualification in community development or equivalent experience; or a sound understanding of the principles and practice of community development, preferably with experience of working with children and young people.
Since you will be working with vulnerable children and young people, PVG registration is essential.
In addition to a friendly, dynamic and gregarious nature, you will need excellent communication skills both face to face and electronic, flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving needs and be able to deliver to fixed deadlines. Good team working skills are essential as you will be often operating remotely from the project, your manager and your colleagues.
The contracted hours of work are to be worked over seven days and may involve evening and weekend work. You will, however, be expected to work such hours as are required for the efficient and conscientious discharge of your duties and responsibilities for which a system of flexi-time applies to this role.
The role is a national role requiring travel to designated areas throughout Scotland for which travel expenses will be paid. A valid driving license and a car are therefore essential.
