Social Media Content Volunteer             

Time Commitment:               1.5 days per week, there may be a need to attend events in the evenings or at weekends

Location:                               At SRC office and various community locations

Duration:                                At least six months

Scottish Refugee Council’s communications department is responsible for creating content and raising awareness of issues arising around asylum seekers and refugees within the wider community in Scotland, as well as highlighting good initiatives by various community groups in Scotland.

The Communications Department and the Community Development Team are working on a project to highlight the contribution, events and activities of various community groups, including refugee-led groups.

What will I be doing?

Duties will involve:

  • Attending community events and meetings
  • Interviewing event attendees, community group members and leaders
  • Shooting videos and recording audio clips.
  • Writing blogs on the above coupled with relevant images/videos.

 What skills or qualities do I need?

  • Video production knowledge and having your own camera for taking photos and filming short video clips
  • Experience of blog writing or web writing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • An interest in community events.
  • Ability to work with a range of different people including asylum seekers and refugees.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliability, punctuality and enthusiasm.
