About Refugee Festival Scotland
Coordinated by Scottish Refugee Council, Refugee Festival Scotland brings together people from refugee and local communities to celebrate the contribution refugees make to our rich cultural life in Scotland and the welcome offered by local people.
The theme for Refugee Festival Scotland 2017 will be Connect.
In 2016, Refugee Festival Scotland celebrated solidarity and encouraged people to stand visibly and proudly in solidarity with refugees.
In 2017, against the backdrop of the EU referendum outcome, we at Scottish Refugee Council want to make sure that leaving the EU does not mean abandoning people who need refugee protection.
Throughout the festival, using the theme of ‘Connect', we will encourage people from all walks of Scottish society to connect with refugees, as neighbours, colleagues, classmates and friends. As people who have lost so much, but offer so much to Scotland.
The festival will explore the tangible and accessible actions we can all take to strengthen connections between local communities and new Scots rebuilding their lives here.

We will share details of how you can get involved in 2017 soon - watch this space.
