Bill Brandon, UK Border Agency's deputy director, Nico Juetten, Head of Policy at the Scottish Commission for Children and Young People, and Colin Lancaster, director of Policy and Development at Scottish Legal Aid Board, are amongst an exciting line-up of speakers for Scottish Refugee Council's annual conference.

The conference, which takes place at Hampden Park on Friday 29 October 2010, will be a chance to examine what current policy means for the lives of those seeking sanctuary in the UK.

We will be focusing on the new UK Coalition Government’s stated agenda for asylum seekers and refugees, including: speeding up the asylum process; ending child detention and treatment of LGBT people seeking asylum.

Other confirmed speakers include the director of Stonewall Scotland, Carl Watt, and our very own Chief Executive, John Wilkes.

Our chair for the day will be political broadcaster Glenn Campbell, and there will be speakers from the UK and Scottish Governments.
