Become part of our photography project!
Have you seen our Refugee Week 2011 film Courage?
It was made earlier this year by a group of six people, from all over the world, who all came to Scotland for safety. Their film very successfully described why the UN Refugee Convention is so important. But did you know it was the result of our annual Big Lottery funded Communications Project?
Next year, we’re delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for people to get involved in another Communications Project, the results of which will be launched for Refugee Week Scotland 2012.
Street Level Photoworks offering free workshops for refugees
The 2012 project will be based around photography, and we’ll be making it happen with the help of the renowned photography gallery, Street Level Photoworks.
The project will consist of 12 photography workshops, held between February and April, where participants will learn about portrait photography, video-making, multimedia and interviewing skills.
Besides a portrait exhibition, which will be launched at Trongate 103 in June 2012, there will also be an online multimedia exhibition, which will hold an interactive collection of portraits and video interviews. Once it’s launched, anyone – no matter what their background – will be able to upload their own videos and be part of this exciting event.
If you're interested, get in touch now!
Right now we are looking for people seeking asylum or people with refugee status to take part in the project. You must be over the age of 16 and with a good knowledge of English. Get in touch by December 16th!
If you are interested, or want to know more, or you are part of an organisation which could help us to make the project known in your community, please let us know.
