How to use the health service in Scotland: New DVD from NHS Scotland
February 2010
A new DVD from NHS Scotland called 'How to use the Health Service in Scotland' includes information on the family doctor, the dentist, the optician, the pharmacy and other NHS services. Scottish Refugee Council was involved in the development of the DVD. You can select from a soundtrack of 17 languages to listen to information in the language of your choice.

The Department of Health (DoH) - Multilingual Swine Flu Information
January 2010
The DoH has produced a swine flu information sheet for asylum seekers and refugees in the UK. The leaflet provides basic information about the swine flu illness and includes useful details like how to find a doctor or access the National Pandemic Flu Service. Information is available in multiple languages including English, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, French, Pashto, Somali,Tigrinya and Urdu.

The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture
The Medical Foundation (Scotland) provides survivors of torture in the UK with medical treatment and psychotherapeutic support. It also conducts training and education campaigns.

Compass Team
Compass is a Glasgow-based mental health team for Asylum Seekers and Refugees run by the National Health Service (NHS). They work to strengthen culturally sensitive pathways in mental health care for Asylum Seekers and Refugees.
You must be referred by your GP to access this service. This is not an emergency or self-referral service.

Sanctuary - Mosaics of Meaning: Exploring Asylum Seekers and Refugees Views on the Stigma Associated with Mental Health Problems (January 2008)
The report highlights attitudes amongst refugees and asylum seekers in Glasgow about mental health issues. The research was commissioned by Positive Mental Attitudes, NHS Glasgow & Clyde and East Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership.
