The impact of section 55 on the Inter-Agency Partnership and the asylum seekers it supports Refugee Council, February 2004

Section 55 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 meant that asylum seekers would be denied support if they failed to apply for asylum as soon as reasonably possible. This report argues that this is not a workable policy, and points out that it has led to many refugees becoming destitute.
