I have not made a claim for asylum
In the UK (including Scotland) asylum is another word for protection. To be able to stay here and be protected, you must first apply for asylum.
Applying for asylum
If you decide to apply for asylum, you should do so as soon as possible after you arrive. We may be able to help you apply if you:
- have recently arrived in the UK;
- have been living in the UK for some time;
- are here against your will or fear abuse;
- are not in the UK and wish to claim asylum;
Other immigration options
If you do not wish to apply for asylum but want to discuss your other immigration options, you should contact a legal representative.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: As of the 8 July 2011, the Immigration Advisory Service (IAS) is closed. Their clients are advised not to go to their office for advice. Our legal representative lists will be updated shortly. See the IAS website for urgent advice for their clients
