How we help
We offer help and advice to asylum seekers and refugees at all stages in the asylum process, from making a claim for asylum, to integrating into Scottish life, to being granted refugee status.
We also offer advice about what to do if your claim for asylum has been refused. And we can suggest what to do if your claim for asylum is taking a long time.
If you are unsure about where you are in the asylum process, see our flow chart which summarises the asylum process in Scotland.
Legal advice
We cannot offer legal advice, but we can help you find a legal representative. Download the lists below or contact us directly.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: As of the 8 July 2011, the Immigration Advisory Service (IAS) is closed. Their clients are advised not to go to their office for advice. Our legal representative lists will be updated shortly. See the IAS website for urgent advice for their clients

Make an appointment
The asylum process is complex and can be confusing. If you are having problems with your asylum claim, or have any questions, you should make an appointment to speak with one of our advisers.

Interpreters
If you have an appointment at our office and need an interpreter, we will try to provide one for you. This is free of charge. However if you are unable to make the appointment, let us know as soon as possible so we can cancel the interpreter. If you are late or miss your appointment, we still have to pay the interpreter. Please remember we are a charity with limited funds.
