Scottish Refugee Council can advise you on some money problems. For example we can help you to fill out your form to claim money from the National Asylum Support Service (NASS) when you are seeking asylum or tell you how to claim welfare benefits if you have refugee status.

Information for asylum-seekers from Turkey, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus or Croatia
If you are from Turkey, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus or Croatia and you are near the end of the asylum process you may be able to claim benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions.

Are you from Iraq and applying for Section 4 support? (August 2005)

Applying for asylum support (November2006)
Asylum seekers are not allowed to work. As the asylum process can be long you need to think about how you can support yourself. You may be eligible to apply for support from the National Asylum Support Service (NASS). This leaflet was produced with the Refugee Council in England.

Has your family been refused asylum? (November 2004)
Have you and your family been refused asylum? Have you received a letter from the Home Office entitled 'Your status in the UK and Schedule 3 to the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002'? This leaflet was produced by the Refugee Council and Refugee Action.

Are you an Iraqi national at the end of the asylum process?
If the Home Office refused your application and you have been unsuccessful with your asylum appeals then it is likely that the support that the National Asylum Support Service (NASS) has given you, will have stopped.

Citizens Advice Bureau offer advice on money, housing and other issues concerning your rights. Look at this website to find your nearest citizen's advice office. This site is useful for people who have received status and want to find out about their rights.
