Our board of directors come from many different backgrounds, but all are there to keep us on course

David Fraser (Chair)
David Fraser has extensive experience of corporate management, governance and financial affairs. He has a background as a chief executive in health services and takes an active interest in the wellbeing of refugees and those seeking asylum. He is chairman of Castle Rock Edinvar Housing Association, Board Member of the UK Air Users Council and an Independent Member of the Ethics Committee of the UK Department of Work and Pensions.

Nicky Munro
Nicky Munro dealt with housing, planning, health, transport, equality, poverty and third sector issues within the Scottish Government, where she was also diversity champion.  She also served on the Commission for Race Equality’s Scottish Council. Since she retired she has joined the boards of Consumer Focus Scotland and Fairbridge in Scotland.

Sanaa Alsabag
Sanaa Alsabag is a former politician and refugee from Sudan. She has been in the UK since 2005 and has worked as a volunteer at the British Red Cross, and as General Secretary and Chair of the Sudanese Community in Glasgow. She is a member of the Scottish Refugee Policy Forum and the Refugee Women's Strategy Group and is a board member of the Dumbarton Road Corridor Environmental Trust.

Mahamad Al-Shagra
Mahamad Al Shagra is originally from Iraq, where he held a number of posts in broadcast media as well as in the diplomatic corps. After fleeing Saddam Hussein’s regime he established an underground radio station. Since arriving in Glasgow as an asylum seeker in 2002, he has been involved in a wide range of voluntary work on refugee issues.

Bridgid Corr
Bridgid Corr has a great deal of experience of working with refugees and asylum seekers within the support and community development fields. She currently works as a capacity building officer for Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector, helping community and voluntary groups strengthen their capacity and knowledge.

Twimukye Mushaka
Twimukye Mushaka works with The Poverty Alliance as Fieldwork Development Officer. She was previously Chair of Karibu, an African women's organisation, and has volunteered with a number of Scottish charities. She has worked with disability rights organisations in Uganda and East and Southern Africa. Twimukye is passionate about tackling poverty and promoting equality and human rights.

Judith Robertson
Judith Robertson is the Head of Oxfam in Scotland. Judith was formerly the Programme Manager for Oxfam’s UK Poverty Programme in Scotland and their Campaign Manager. She has a long-standing interest in international issues and developed Oxfam’s asylum programme in Scotland. Judith is also on the board of the Poverty Alliance.

Dr Ann Rosengard
Dr Rosengard manages a research consultancy that focuses on homelessness, community care and equalities issues. She also lectures part-time at Glasgow University, where she has been an Honorary Research Fellow. Dr Rosengard is a board member of Apna Ghar Housing Association and has worked with housing associations and voluntary organisations for several years. 

Désiré Ruragaragaza
Désiré Ruragaragaza was an employment advisor at the Gorbals Initiative and has previously worked for West of Scotland Housing Association, Hamilton Burns & Company Solicitors, Legal Services Agency (LSA) and as a volunteer casework assistant at Positive Action in Housing. Prior to arriving in the UK, he was a legal representative for criminal, human rights, employment and family cases in the Burundian Association Bar.

Eleanor Taylor
Eleanor Taylor is the Head of Programme for Scottish Enterprise’s Proof of Concept Programme, which supports the development of research into commercial products or services. Eleanor is a chartered accountant who started work as an investment analyst and business adviser. She is involved with many networks and associations, such as chairing the finance group at the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF).

Laurie Naumann
Laurie Naumann founded and then directed the Scottish Council for Single Homeless. Now retired, he chairs Garvald Edinburgh and is a member of the of Polmont Young Offenders’ Institution visiting committee. He was a trustee of the Refugee Survival Trust and has chaired it for the last six years. He has been a member of Scottish Refugee Council since 1994 and has previously served on our board from 2002 until 2006.

Dougie Campbell
Dougie Campbell is a former Chief Inspector with Strathclyde Police with 22 years experience, including operational policing command, project management and Head of Recruiting. He was responsible for the development and delivery of Human Rights training for police officers following the Human Rights Act 1998. He obtained a Masters degree in Human Rights Law from Strathclyde University in 2004. Since leaving the police, he has been a refugee mentor and volunteer caseworker with Scottish Refugee Council.

Sue Moody
Sue Moody came to Scotland in 1974 as an economic migrant from Ireland. Since then she's worked mainly with survivors of abuse and victims of crime, campaigning for their rights, providing services, doing research, teaching university students and developing policy.  She's also pushed for equality and diversity in criminal justice, particularly within the prosecution service in Scotland. Sue is a member of Amnesty International UK and the World Development Movement.
