Who we are
Independent advice and campaigning since 1985
Scottish Refugee Council is an independent charity dedicated to providing advice and information to people seeking asylum and refugees living in Scotland.
Since 1985 we have been campaigning for fair treatment of refugees and people seeking asylum, raising awareness of refugee issues through the media, arts and local communities and working hard to influence policy in both Scotland and the UK.
Supported by our members
As a membership organisation, we invite individuals or organisations with a personal or professional interest in refugee issues to join us. We are governed by a board of directors, made up of people from a range of backgrounds including refugees and people seeking asylum.
Our patrons are civil rights leader Nelson Mandela, journalist and critic Joyce McMillan and former Solicitor General for Scotland Lord McCluskey.

Our Strategic Plan 2010 - 2013
![]()
Our strategic plan sets out our vision, values, strategic aims and identifies how we intend to deliver them from 2010-2013.
In 2009, we consulted widely with groups, organisations, individuals and our own staff and volunteers to produce this plan. Thanks to all of those who took part in our consultation process which helped to strengthen and shape the plan.
2011 Review
Each year the Board of Directors reviews the plan and in June 2011, it made slight amendments to the detailed outcomes the organisation is working towards to achieve our strategic aims. These changes were made as a result of organisational restructuring we undertook in Spring 2011.
