Who we are

Scottish Refugee Council is an independent charity dedicated to providing advice, information and assistance to asylum seekers and refugees living in Scotland. We also provide specialist services in areas such as housing and welfare, womens issues, community development and  media and the arts.

We play a leading role in policy development, and campaign on refugee issues to ensure that Scotland plays a full role in meeting the UK's legal and humanitarian obligations under the 1951 United Nations Convention on Refugees.

We are a membership organisation and our members are individuals or organisations with a personal or professional interest in refugee issues. We are governed by a Board of Directors which is a voluntary group comprising of individuals with a keen interest in the area of asylum and protection, as well as asylum seekers and refugees themselves.

Our Patrons are Nelson Mandela, Joyce McMillan and Lord McClusky.

Our Strategic Plan 2010 - 2013

Our plan sets out our vision, values, strategic aims and identifies how we intend to deliver them over the next three years. We have consulted widely with groups, organisations, individuals and our own staff and volunteers to produce this plan.

Thanks to all of those who took part in our consultation process which helped to strengthen and shape the plan that has now been agreed by our board of trustees.
