Scottish Refugee Council is an independent charity dedicated to providing advice, information and assistance to asylum seekers and refugees living in Scotland. We also provide specialist services in areas such as housing and welfare, education and employment, family reunion, women's issues, community development, the media and the arts.
We play a leading role in policy development and campaign on refugee issues to ensure that Scotland plays a full role in meeting the UK's legal and humanitarian obligations under the 1951 United Nations Convention on Refugees. To read more about our work click here.

Joint training event on Statutory Review and Reconsideration Orders

Scottish Refugee Council to launch new programme for Refugee Integration & Employment.
Scottish Refugee Council has been awarded a three year contract for a new programme to help refugees in Scotland gain employment and integrate successfully into the community.
The programme, funded by UKBA and which will start in October, will be available to those who have been recognised as refugees. It will focus on helping them find employment and offer practical advice on English classes, and issues such as housing and education.
Scottish Refugee Council will deliver this contract with its partners A4e and the Volunteer Centre, Glasgow.
John Wilkes, chief executive, Scottish Refugee Council, said:
“Amongst the refugee community in Scotland are doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, nurses – the type of skills Scotland is regularly calling out for. We are delighted to have been awarded this contract to support refugees into employment and education and to help them to rebuild their lives in safety in Scotland, for the benefit of the whole community.”
Scottish Refugee Council awarded grant by the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.
The grant, £181 000 over a three year period, will fund a full time Children’s Policy Officer. This post will concentrate on positively shaping policies that directly impact on the lives of refugee and asylum seeking children.
